Mechanical Behavior of Tubular Freeze-Cast Substrates with Organized Pore Structure

چکیده
Despite the high potential of freeze-casting technique for production porous inorganic substrates, there is a lack studies on tubular geometries and their mechanical behavior under different pressure scenarios. In this work, freeze-cast alumina substrates was assessed by mathematical models from experimental O-ring tests. The stress distributions revealed concentration tensile stresses (within 0.2-25.0 MPa) plane load, causing brittle fracture. Furthermore, results confirmed that honeycomb model material adequately predicted strength substrates. Finally, fracture criteria used to estimate maximum homogeneously distributed pressures, such as in fluids, can withstand. This configuration represents more precisely practical conditions, though hard experimentaly replicate. Therefore, developed procedure paramount simulate behaviour real operating conditions.

متن کاملDirectionally freeze-cast titanium foam with aligned, elongated pores
Directional freeze-casting – a process used to create foams with elongated, aligned pores applied so far exclusively for ceramics – is demonstrated for titanium foams. An aqueous slurry of <45 lm titanium powders was directionally solidified, resulting in a powder preform consisting of elongated, aligned dendrites of pure ice separated by interdendritic regions with high powder content. After f...

This paper proposes a new analytical procedure to simulate the frost heave of granular materials. The objective of the research is to examine the applicability of discontinuous analysis to numerical simulation for the mechanical behaviour of granular materials subjected to freeze-thaw action. In this paper, numerical simulations of freeze-thawing triaxial compression tests for glass beads were ...
متن کاملMorphological analysis of pores in directionally freeze-cast titanium foams
Synchrotron x-ray tomography was performed on titanium foams with aligned, elongated pores, initially created by sintering directionally freeze-cast preforms using two different powder sizes. Three-dimensional reconstructions of the pore structures were analyzed morphologically using interface shape and interface normal distributions. A smaller powder size leads to more completely sintered tita...
